What’s Prop 50?

A redistricting scheme from Governor Newsom and Sacramento Democrats that shifts Nevada County into an urban district—silencing our rural voice.

What’s at Stake?

We Lose Our Rural Representation

Instead of being grouped with rural counties like Plumas, Sierra, Inyo, and Mono, we’d be lumped in with urban Sacramento, including Sacramento State, Downtown Sacramento, and Rancho Cordova industrial zones.

Our rural needs—like wildfire prevention, forest health, & water access—will take a back seat to urban priorities like mass transit and high-rise housing.

Why They’re Doing It

This is a power grab to suspend the California Constitution, thereby:

  • Eliminating 5 Republican seats in Congress

  • Giving one party–Democrats–total control

  • Sideline rural communities like ours
