Proposition 218 - NID Rate Increase
The Nevada County Republican Party has taken an official position to OPPOSE the Nevada Irrigation District’s proposed rate increase (Proposition 218). We have, however, received multiple requests for basic information on the size of the increases and how residents can respond.
The proposed increases are significant. For example, NID’s notice shows the inside-district 5/8-inch monthly fixed charge rising from $29.33 to $52.37 by 2031 (79% increase), and the treated water usage rate rising to $5.14 per HCF. On the irrigation side, the in-district annual fixed charge would rise from $1,284.72 to $2,351.04 by 2031 (83% increase).
For those who wish to oppose the increase, Proposition 218 allows for a written protest.
